Hermetic Window Design Guidelines

The Tekna Seal process for optical windows begins with the glass material selection optimized for the best optical performance for the customer application. Our oxide-free glass sealing process, combined with metal injection molding (MIM) technology used to tailor the thermal expansion properties of the metal frame to match the coefficient of expansion of the desired glass, provides a rugged and stress-free glass-to-metal bond.

The glass is sealed directly to the metal frame to provide a rugged, reliable hermetic seal. Both surfaces of the glass are subsequently polished to remove molding artifacts and achieve the optical requirements. Anti-reflective coatings are available as required.
